We have another exciting installment in our Top 5 Neighbourhoods series! This time we are taking a closer look at Oakville.
Oakville is a charming city that offers a suburban oasis close to the buzzing worklife of downtown Toronto. It was recently voted as the best Canadian city to live.
I’m family oriented and Oakville is one of my favorite cities in the GTA for families and even young professionals looking for some peaceful living.
From the storybook beauty of Old Oakville to charming Bronte, here are my top 5 neighbourhoods in the city.
The downtown harbourfront neighbourhood of Old Oakville has some incredible heritage homes which carry plaques featuring the original dates of construction and the names of the original occupants.
If you are a history buff like me this unique feature of Old Oakville is so charming! While Old Oakville boasts historical beauty, it also has all the modern amenities you could want.
From art galleries to waterfront parks, marinas and amazing upscale restaurants like Pasquale’s Trattoria, Old Oakville has everything you could want.
Joshua Creek is one of Oakville’s newer neighbourhoods. Homes here are fairly large, have relatively modern floor plans and amenities.
A common theme in Oakville, this community is very family oriented and it’s not uncommon to see children playing in the street. Joshua Creek is conveniently located near the QEW and 403 and is also a short 10-minute drive from the GO Station making it a popular option for commuters heading into work in Toronto.
If you are as concerned and invested in education as I am, you’ll be happy to know that Joshua Creek has some of the top rated schools in Oakville like the exceptional Iroquois Ridge High School. If you are looking for a modern, family oriented community Joshua Creek could be a great option for you.
Also, just further along on Dundas street going west, you will see a lot of developed and under construction family homes on both sides of the street.
This new locality has easy access to old town amenities as well as within close proximity to major highways -403, 407 and QEW.
The upscale neighbourhood of Morrison is one of Oakville’s most affluent communities. Morrison features many beautiful custom designed homes and lots of green spaces.
This exclusive community boasts beautiful lakefront walking trails, stunning gardens like the gorgeous Gairloch Garden which also features an art gallery. There are tons of dining options and Morrison has easy access to the QEW and 403.
Morrison also has an excellent educational system with exceptional public and private schools.
Bronte’s harbourfront features a mix of housing options including lovely cottages, condos and townhouse complexes.
For some quick shopping there is the Bronte Village Mall in addition to waterfront parks and tons of restaurants like the Plank Restobar which offers amazing dining options and lakeside views.
Bronte is ideal for urban dwellers who enjoy a touch of nature and proximity to the waterfront.
College Park is a younger neighbourhood thanks to the student population of Sheridan College which is located here. College Park has got some really great affordable housing options as well as excellent shopping at Oakville Place Mall.
If you like shopping as much as I do, you may eventually find yourself spending more time than expected here. If you’re just looking for some rest and relaxation then the Oakville Golf Club is the right choice for you. College Park is also well situated and has easy access to major highways and Go service.
Yes, Oakville is an amazing city and I would be happy to talk you through how it could become your home. If you are looking to buy a home in Oakville, I can help.
